Overview
A multi-site Top 50 tax practice, with offices in Leeds, is seeking a Tax Manager to join an established team and take a lead in the provision of Tax Services to a burgeoning client base.Main Duties
As Tax Manager you will be expected to:
• Ensure that clients' tax affairs comply with statutory time limits, and to manage compliance work efficiently, profitably
and in accordance with the firm's tax manual.
• Identify tax planning opportunities, and to undertake specialist technical assignments as required
• Act as the principal point of contact to clients on tax queries
• Develop an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses and an awareness of the
firm's services, brochures and publications.
• Interview prospective clients and to assist other departments in the research and preparation of formal proposals for
new work.
• Assist in review and quality control procedures and the administration of the department where required
• Provide technical guidance, supervision and "on the job" training for junior staff and performing appraisals if
appropriate
The client base includes a large number of owner-managed businesses (ranging in turnover from £1m - £200m, typically £10m - £20m) across a wide range of sectors, meaning that there are excellent opportunities to refine technical skills in a very challenging sector of the market.
The role would suit someone able to demonstrate a genuine interest in Tax with broad experience, perhaps seeking promotion from Manager level or who is looking to work within a national organisation
Key Skills
In order to be considered for the role Tax Manger you will need to have:
• a recognised accountancy qualification (CCAB), ideally ACA, CTA, ACCA or be qualified-by-experience)
• A background in and broad knowledge of UK Taxes
• Excellent communication and relationship skilled
• Experience working in accountancy practice or HMRC/ Inland Revenue
